DudeMeds.com – ePrescribing, Security, and Compliance
1. Who are the licensed prescribers for DudeMeds?
All prescriptions issued through DudeMeds are written by fully licensed U.S.-based physicians or advanced practice providers (MDs, DOs, NPs, or PAs), who are credentialed, actively practicing, and authorized to prescribe under state and federal law.
2. Is DudeMeds a pharmacy or a prescribing entity?
No. DudeMeds is a technology and service platform. We facilitate telehealth visits and prescription fulfillment through a network of independent licensed providers and third-party partner pharmacies. DudeMeds itself does not issue prescriptions or dispense medications.
3. How are prescriptions transmitted electronically?
All prescriptions are transmitted via certified electronic prescribing software that integrates with Surescripts and DoseSpot to ensure compliance with EPCS (Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances) standards where applicable. These transmissions are encrypted and HIPAA-compliant.
4. How does DudeMeds verify patient identity?
Patients undergo a digital identity verification process as part of their onboarding and intake. This includes:
Full legal name and DOB
Government-issued ID verification (in select states)
Address matching
Phone/email verification
This ensures compliance with NIST Level 2 identity proofing when required for prescribing controlled substances.
5. Is patient health information (PHI) secure?
Yes. DudeMeds enforces HIPAA-compliant security standards for all protected health information. All patient records, prescriptions, and communications are:
Stored securely in encrypted databases
Accessed only by credentialed clinicians and authorized staff
Audited and logged for traceability and compliance
6. How are medications dispensed?
Prescriptions are routed to and filled by third-party licensed pharmacies (including 503A or 503B pharmacies where appropriate). Patients may select their preferred pharmacy if needed. DudeMeds works only with pharmacies that comply with state licensure and federal drug distribution laws.
7. Are providers allowed to prescribe controlled substances through DudeMeds?
Yes, when clinically appropriate and permitted by state and federal law. All providers prescribing controlled substances:
Hold valid DEA registrations
Use certified EPCS-compliant software
Follow strict clinical protocols to ensure patient safety
8. How can patients or pharmacies contact prescribing providers?
Pharmacies can contact prescribers directly via contact information included in each prescription. Patients may reach their provider via the secure DudeMeds patient portal, or by contacting our Care Team at care@dudemeds.com to route questions.
9. Does DudeMeds allow patient choice in pharmacy selection?
Yes. While most prescriptions are routed to partner pharmacies for efficiency, patients may request their prescription be sent to a pharmacy of their choice during the intake process or by contacting our support team.
10. How does DudeMeds ensure prescription appropriateness?
Every prescription is written only after a licensed provider:
Reviews the patient’s health intake
Evaluates current and past medications
Reviews recent lab work (if applicable)
Conducts a telehealth consultation when medically necessary
DudeMeds follows a strict prescribe-only-if-medically-appropriate policy. No prescriptions are issued automatically.
